THREE BOOKS · THREE CITIES · ONE CONTINUOUS JOURNEY

Timeline of the Heart

Three novels move the same story through three different cities. This reading-safe chronology follows the order of discovery, masks and tides without inventing dates or revealing the trilogy’s ending.

READING ORDER, NOT AN INVENTED CALENDAR

Three movements of one story

The books establish a clear narrative sequence, but not a fixed public calendar of years and months. This guide follows what the reader encounters in each volume, without pretending to date events the novels do not precisely date.

Cinematic industrial cityscape of Aetherholm
I · AETHERHOLM

The Gear of Fate

The machine

The story begins in Aetherholm, where Lyra’s research at the Academy of Aetherium draws her into questions about mechanisms, sealed records and a strange response from the Heart. The first book establishes the stakes of discovery and the cost of treating knowledge as possession.

Cinematic masked ceremonial city of Velmira
II · VELMIRA

The Dance of Shadows

The mask

The journey moves into Velmira, where ceremonies, houses and memory-lanterns change the rules. Evidence is now social as well as mechanical: names, rituals and testimony become part of the conflict. This is the next volume, not a separate story.

Cinematic water-and-domes cityscape of Lunaris
III · LUNARIS

The City of Shattered Moons

The tide

Lunaris brings the trilogy into a city of domes, custodians and shifting tides. Themes of boundaries and responsibility grow sharper as threads from the first two books converge. The outcome remains in the novel, not on this page.

SPOILER-SAFE MILESTONES

The path through the trilogy

These are reading landmarks rather than dates. Every step is described through the opening premise or broad movement of a book.

  1. Before Book I

    Aetherholm’s instruments and institutions

The Academy, observatories and records are already part of city life when the narrative begins. They form the structure within which Lyra must work.

  2. Book I begins

A question rises from the machine

Lyra encounters evidence that the world’s mechanisms may not be as simple as their custodians claim.

  3. The journey broadens

    Machines lead into contested memory

The question of who may investigate begins to intersect with who is allowed to tell and preserve the story.

  4. Book II

    Velmira tests identities

Masks, ceremonies and competing houses turn memory into an arena where public truth and private loyalty collide.

  5. Book III

The tide changes the language of power

Lunaris asks what it means to witness, keep or protect something that cannot be commanded as an object.

  6. After the final volume

The resolution stays in the books

This public page deliberately stops before the final choices, character outcomes and revelations.
