THE CONTINUITY MURDERS / GLOSSARY

GLOSSARY

A spoiler-safe guide to the places, institutions, evidence systems and core concepts of the series.

Public geography / reader orientation

City & districts

The city is not just a backdrop. Its districts, roads and records actively shape the investigation.

NemorraCity framework

The central metropolis of the series: a dense, surveilled city where institutions, infrastructure and memory are all part of the mystery.

MeridianDistrict

A central civic zone associated with transit, records and official movement across the city.

LowlineDistrict

A lower industrial zone tied to labor, survival and the parts of Nemorra that official narratives prefer to keep peripheral.

Vesper WardDistrict

A district associated with residency, routine and the private spaces where public order begins to fail.

Files / systems / public records

Investigation & institutions

These terms describe how Nemorra records, investigates and controls what counts as evidence.

Continuity DivisionInvestigative body

The investigative institution at the center of the series. It handles cases where evidence, identity and continuity are unstable.

Case ArchivePublic file system

The public-facing layer of the investigation: selected files, evidence summaries and reader-safe entry points into each novel.

Civic recordsAdministrative system

The city’s official records: maps, logs, movements and registrations that may clarify a case—or complicate it.

Witness filePublic testimony

A structured record built from what someone claims to have seen, remembered or survived.

Identity / persistence / evidence

Memory & continuity

The core mysteries of the series revolve around what remains when memory breaks, shifts or returns in fragments.

QuietingCognitive event

A disruptive phenomenon that affects memory and continuity, leaving people uncertain about the immediate past while other capacities remain intact.

ContinuityIdentity principle

The working question beneath the whole series: what makes a person the same person across interrupted memory, records and testimony?

Residual memoryTrace concept

Fragments that remain after disruption—skills, reactions, impressions or emotional knowledge that outlast clean recall.

Neural residueScientific evidence

A technical or interpretive trace used to study what survives in the mind when ordinary memory no longer fully holds.

Perimeters / anomalies / caution

Restricted & uncertain

Some words point to the boundaries of what the city can explain. They matter precisely because their meaning is unstable.

PalisadeDistrict boundary

A perimeter-facing zone linked to questions of access, containment and what lies at the edges of the city’s official story.

RedactionRestricted access

A deletion, seal or intentional omission inside a record, file or report.

AnomalyInvestigative trigger

An event, object or testimony that does not fit the expected system of cause, place or identity.

Public accessReader protocol

Material presented on the site without major spoilers. It is designed to orient the reader, not replace the novels.
