THE IMPERIAL CALENDAR
The twelve recognized Shengxiao signs are more than symbols worn by students: together they define the empire's public system of order. The office of the Calendar Regent sits above the Academy's everyday rivalries, connecting House authority to the wider imperial structure.
Empress Dowager Meilin embodies that political scale. Her authority is patient, formal and consequential; she is concerned with the stability of the system the Houses are expected to uphold. A new initiate may first encounter that power through rules, titles or a ceremony rather than through the Regent in person. The exact decisions, private motives and later revelations belong to the novels and are intentionally absent here.
